The Worrigee Bowls Club pavilion

Our Story

Sixty years
on the green.

Chapter One

A club built by hand, by neighbours.

In the winter of 1962, a handful of Shoalhaven farmers, dairymen, and returned servicemen picked up shovels behind the old Worrigee Hall and began to level a patch of paddock. By the following spring, they had a green. By the summer after that, they had a club.

Six decades on, we're still here — same patch of earth, same handshake at the gate, same simple idea. Cut a rink clean, keep the ales cold, and make room on the bench for one more.

What We Believe

The House Rules

Fair play, always

The umpire's call is the umpire's call. A gracious loss is worth more than a grudging win.

The door is open

Bowlers of any age, any background, any experience. New faces get the first bowl and the first cup of tea.

Look after the green

Whites on the green. Flats, not heels. And when you're done, roll it flat behind you.

Club members on the green

The Committee

Volunteers,
to a person.

Every job at Worrigee — from cutting the greens to counting the raffle — is done by a member. It has been that way for sixty years, and we mean to keep it that way.
